Go to the dentist because he will not randomly extract the tooth while there is an abscess...
He will put you on anti-biotics for a week before trying to fix the tooth.
The first visit for an abscess is the least painful.
Just make the appointment and go....
By the way.
Do not forget to pay the dentist his fee......

My friend recently had an abcess she ignored and the infection began to attack her jawbone. She ended up having part of her jaw removed.

Erm there isn't one other than temporary pain killers to reduce the pain. The longer you leave it the worse it gets. You will be in agony and it can be dangerous. It doesn't neccesarily have to come out but if you leave it, it will be inevitable that you will need an emergency extraction.

Sorry but you really need to visit the dentist, it may be that the tooth needs to be extracted, either way you will need a course of antibiotics to clear up the infection!
Good Luck

An abscess can kill you as it causes blood poisoning. You need antibiotics and there really is no other cure. Our ancestors used to die from it. Go to A & E or see an out of hours doctor, it will only get worse till you get them.
