I recently acquired a painting signed by G Chapman called "Autumn". Does anyone know anything about painter?
This is an oil landscape, rather primitive, that has a farm in the background with colorful autumn leaves on the trees. In the foreground is a tree draping down by a lake. There are ducks swimming in the lake. I'm assuming there may be a spring, summer and winter picture that this painter might have done, too.

Are you certain there isn't a J before the G? The only G. Chapman I know of who was a painter, is John Gadsby Chapman. He worked in oils and is well known across the US and Europe.
If you have one of his original paintings, it will be worth several thousands of dollars. Don't get rid of it, but claim it on your home owner's insurance.
