Any record can have an adverse affect on securing a job. That being said, employers as a rule do not decide whether or not to hire just based on someone's record. But if the offense is at all related to the type of work they are hoping to secure they are up-know-what out of luck.

A class A misdemeanor is a serious offense. It's one step down from a felony. It can be anything from DUI/DWI to Misdemeanor assault and battery.
And if you are in Texas, it can be really bad. Texas doesn't mess around and Class "A"s are serious. Here's a list of some of them:
Assault (by causing bodily injury)
Bail Jumping (from misdemeanor A or B)
Burglary of Coin Op Machine
Burglary of Vehicle
Criminal Trespass (of habitat or dwelling)
Cruelty to an Animal (1 st-starve or abandon)
Deadly Conduct (not firearm)
DWI-2 nd (30 day minimum)
Escape (misdemeanor arrest)
Gambling Promotion
Harassment-2 nd
Interference with 911 phone call
Improper Contact with Victim
Obscenity
Perjury
Possession/Manufacturing Criminal Instrument for Theft
Possession firearm (prior family violence conviction)
Prohibited Weapon (switchblade/knuckles)
Public Lewdness
Resisting Arrest
Stealing Check
Unlawful Carrying Weapon
Unlawful Restraint (not child)
Violation of Protective Order
They also carry a term of up to 1 year in jail and I *think* a $2,000 fine.
