Ethernet Cable for Xbox live (xbox 360)?

i was wondering if i would be able to take my ethernet cable out of the back of the Xbox 360 every time i am finished on Live - if i could would it mean i would have to do all the connection tests all over again?

Update:

the only reason i have to do this is because is for it to reach the modem (which is in another room)

Yes, you can take the cable out of your Xbox any time you like. If your network is set up for DHCP (which most are), then the Xbox will get an IP address every time you plug it in. The only time you need to do connection tests are when you are having problems getting out to Xbox Live

You can take the Ethernet cable out after you play on xbox live if you have your Network Setting set to Automatic Detect. You do not have to do the connection test if it is plugged in before you start the xbox

You shouldn't have to. I do it all the time. Just make sure to plug it back in before you turn the xbox back up.
