Let me tell you something and I have been to Russia 3 times and my wife is Russian.

    1) first if you don't have a invitation you can get a visa and of course you need a passport.

    2) A tourist agency or Hotel to get you

    3) getting Visa is easy through any Visa agency coats about 100 to 150 per person in 10 business days.

If you live in the United States and are a Citizen you need a Visa. My MIL and husband were born in Russia but are now american citizens, however now that they are citizens, they too need a visa.

vacationer visa is superb. inner maximum takes long (i propose for a woman to make a private invitation for you via skill of OVIR (takes greater effective than a month) and then the time the submit takes to furnish it from Russia to the U. S.). employer is powerful despite if this is costly. while you're no longer staying interior the hotel - no problem. you have 3 working days after arrival to be registered. You flow to any hotel close on your place of stay in Russia and ask them to make registration of your visa (despite while you're no longer staying there). They do it without problem, we did it with my distant places friends back in Russia in 2009 and 2010 (in 2009 it grew to become into St.Petersburg too). continuously have your passport with you in case you would be stopped via defense force (now they're police) for administration. The registration you will get from the hotel is a separate paper, do no longer lose it too till your arrival back on your place u . s . a ..
