The question about the withdrawals on my Orchard Bank MasterCard?
Hello everyone who answered this question--
I am not chatting with anyone. I am answering the questions. Number one, my son was told by one of the tellers in Washington Mutual that a lady gave one of the tellers my card and that she found it on the floor. (Somewhere between March 11 and March 20, my card fell out of my wallet.) The tellers pretty much know who we are and what our names are. My son told me that's what happened. I went to the bank after he told me that, and I was told that the card had been cut up. I got a new card after that with the same account number. I don't or know when exactly my card fell out of my wallet, but it did. Maybe I reached for my ATM card, and the Orchard one fell out. It sits in a pocket just below my ATM card. I don't know how it fell out of my wallet. Anyway, after I disputed the charge of 161.50, the people at Orchard Bank thought that I lost my card again or something and sent me another one with a new account number. Understand?

When you lose a credit card you dont get the exact account number because someone could use that. They give you a new account number with similar numbers (usually all the same except the past 4 digits) so someone cant still your account again.. Im guessing the bank thought that since you lost your card the first time at the bank and they cut it up immediately that they didnt really need to close the account but since someone obviously charged to your account the bank had to issue you another account number. If you check your credit report you will see your old account listed as lost/stolen card rather than open/current.

I believe the bank is just being cautious. You disputed a charge on your account, your credit card number may be floating around. So to prevent this from happening any more, they are protecting you from future theft.
Be appreciative that your bank is on the ball.
