I read that "Shout to the Lord" would be difficult for Brooke and David to sing as Mormons. Why?

Update:

On American Idol, the contestants ended by singing this song on "Idol Gives Back" with lightly altered lyrics ("Shepherd" instead of "Jesus"). Just wondering if this goes against the Mormon belief system in any way.

Update 2:

Yes, David and Brooke are both Mormons. A quick "Google" will reveal it. :-)

    HUH?

    Oh, American Idol! got it, I'll google the lyrics to the song and get back to you.

    Okay, so it isn't like any of the hymns or worship type songs we sing at church (but outside the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Mormons are notoriously boring singers!), but based solely on the lyrics, their shouldn't be a big problem. I mean we aren't suppose to use the Lord's name in vain (10 commandments) but if it is part of a sincere hymn I don't see why it would be a problem.

    I am LDS (Mormon) and there is no reason why it would be difficult for Brooke and David to sing "Shout to the Lord". It is a beautiful song. I can't imagine any LDS having a problem with it. My guess is that David, Brooke, and Kristy were chosen for the first part because they were very secure in singing "My Jesus, My Saviour, & My Shepherd (not that I'm saying the others weren't).

    PS I don't think it has anything to do with the mormons (altho I could be wrong, because if it did since mormon religion is so reverend they would have also change The "shout" part as well.

    It was either a political correctness issue or the theater they performed in would not allow the word "Jesus" tp be heard, they performed the song a second time which O can't find on youtube and they included the word "Jesus" int his performance.

    LYRICS HERE: They edited out "Jesus"

    Shout to the Lord, all the earth, let us sing

    Power and Majesty, praise to the King;

    Mountains bow down and the seas will roar

    At the sound of Your name.

    I sing for joy at the work of your hands,

    Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand

    Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.

    My Jesus, my Savior, Lord, there is none like You;

    All of my days I want to praise the wonders of Your mighty love.

    My comfort, my shelter, tower of refuge and strength;

    Let every breath, all that I am, never cease to worship You.

    Chorus

    Shout to the Lord, all the earth, let us sing

    Power and Majesty, praise to the King;

    Mountains bow down and the seas will roar

    At the sound of Your name.

    I sing for joy at the work of your hands,

    Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand

    Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.

    Shout to the Lord, all the earth, let us sing

    Power and Majesty, praise to the King;

    Mountains bow down and the seas will roar

    At the sound of Your name.

    I sing for joy at the work of your hands,

    Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand

    Nothing compares to the promise I have...

    Nothing compares to the promise I have...

    Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.

    I didn't know Brooke was a Mormon. I had heard David was, though. I'm interested in knowing this answer also. Wasn't there another song David sang that he had to take a verse out of because of his beliefs?
