My USB port is not functioning. How can I make it operational?

Enable it in the bios. ON bootup hit delete or f1 key repeatedly until you see the BIOS screen serch for the usb CONFIGURATION SETTINGS.

Use a hardware reporting tool to see if it thinks your USB is functioning from within. Before we say that your USB is not functioning we need to do some verification first. Perhaps it is something else, a loose cable, for example.

We need to determine whether the OS sees the USB port. We need to ask if that port has ever worked before?

Maybe the contacts on the USB connectors are not inserted fully, which would certainly look like your USB is not functioning.

Try a known-good USB cable. Try updating the software. Are the printer and wireless phone compatible with your other software? Have you installed any new updates to your operating system? Can you try to install the printer and wireless phone on another computer?

Do you have more than one USB port on the computer that you could try? Is there a second computer you could verify printer and cell phone functionality? Are there other USB devices you could try on that port?

What OS are you running?

If XP than you can go to Microsoft website for an windows update.

If Vista..Maybe you can find an update to fix that problem..
