this one is for the forensic experts in our midst?
i'm trying to write a scene in which a detective/CSI/forensics person (whatever you want to call them) is finding multiple instances of semen samples on a bed in the middle of a crime scene. could someone please walk me through what would happen or the steps a person in this line of work would go through to find/see such samples and then collect them?
i guess i should add that I dispatch for a small PD so I'm 100% sure that CSI (all of them) and shows like it don't really cover all the steps that one would take to do this. I'm pretty sure my guys don't just wave a uv light around and automatically say "hey look! sperm!" lol while i know the UV light is important i'm looking for step by step instructions really. Trying to make this novel more reality... less CSI Tv.
and i refuse to ask my detectives, since i know that question is coming... I don't need them looking at me weird lol

Well i am no CSI/forensic expert but i would say that you watch some episodes of your favourite crime fiction over and over again to see how they incorporate some things to fit into the plot. After that i think you should just go crazy and do it yourself.
