It's an arrangement of the String Quartet's 2nd movement. it is amazing in the string quartet. Great cello part.

Edit: Ah yes. Of course, break a leg on your auditions. Treat them like performances (advice I just got that I think is marvelous). Remember that music is something you love and let the judges hear it! Submit to the music and let it play YOU!

I am a professional flutist, flute teacher, and competition judge in NY. I would strongly advise you to play REAL flute literature at your audition, not a transcription of something else. There is an ENORMOUS amount of wonderful literature for the flute - I have a database I maintain for teaching and performing, that has about 1,000 works in it. If you go to www.nfaonline.org, you can purchase a wonderful booklet that lists many flute work by difficulty - you find where you ARE, and then can find things to do next. There is also one for etudes. You private teacher should be assisting you - but if you are choosing what you said for your audition, it makes me doubt that you have someone assisting you. Also go to Yahoo Groups and join FLUTENET - there are over 3,000 of us there who can help you! Good luck!
