  • Top 5 Favorite Pieces of Horse Tack?

My trainer, friend and I were recently talking. My trainer asked us what our top 5 favorite pieces of horse tack were. At least one of them had to be a training equipment. We had to explain why there were our favorite. Mine are

    1. Fork Training Aid, I've worked with draw reins, wasn't a huge fan of them. I like how the fork training aid is simple to use, you don't have an extra set of reins to hold in your hands.

    2. Snaffle bit, its the most basic bit around. I use the snaffle bit when I'm working on head setting, esp. when I'm using the fork training aid.

    3. Skid boots, with my pleasure horse he over steps, its being fixed right now. We're changing his shoes but I still want protection when I ride him.

    4. Justin Memory Foam Saddle Pad, great for when I'm showing and I spend a lot of time in the saddle. I notice a huge difference when I ride with it, and I don't have to worry about my horse getting back sore.

    5. Equitation seat saddles. I sometimes have issues with my back and I find that I may not be able to sit up in the saddle right, I like how the equitation seat saddle provides support. Also I find that I ride better with it in the show ring.

So now the question is what are your top 5 favorite pieces of horse tack, one of them has to be a training equipment and why?

  • Strange Horse Show Habits?

Its the winter, I'm suffering from winter blues, every year my friends and I talk about our previous horse show season. The one thing we talk about is our strange horse show habits. For example

    1. I wear yellow soccer socks for my hunter under saddle classes

    2. When working in pattern classes, my trainer has us act like the horse working in the pattern.

    So....what are your strange habits?

  • Finding the best coffee grounds?

I'm a college student, and I bought a coffee maker. I've become an avid coffee drinker considering I'm up late studying and it keeps me going. Anyway I can't find the right grounds, I have Folgers Classic Roast (medium), I wasn't a huge fan of the taste.

I'm a huge starbucks fan, although I don't want to pay extra money for the starbucks ground because lets face it, I'm a broke college student. Does anyone have any suggestions on the type of grounds I should get next?

  • What makes you competitive in showing Horses?

I'm writing a paper on showing horses. I want to talk about the competitive edge of horse showing.

For me, I'm the middle child, all my siblings compete in their own events, mine happens to be in horseback riding. I'm very competitive when I'm in a good western pleasure class, showmanship class, Hunter Under Saddle Class. Has there been a time where your competitiveness drove you over the edge?

I will admit, I had a person nearly cause a bad horse accident in a class, needless to say I had to get escorted out out of the ring because I was going to jump off my horse and really hurt the person who pulled that stunt on me. What calms you down? My trainer yelled at me and told me to let it roll off my back.

    Thanks

  • Should I get a New Car?

Right now I've got a '95 Honda Civic, it's in good working order but it has 275,000 miles. I'm driving to and from college. Is it time to get a newer car? I'm not planning no buying a new car, but I'd be looking for a car that has fewer miles

  • What to do with this tooth pain?

I already have TMJ but recently a certain tooth has been hurting but its not all the time. It hurts when I eat, or when I bump it but if nothing touches it then I'm fine. Theres a little swelling on that side of my mouth. I'm also on vacation, so should I just wait until I get home or should I find a dentist now? What could the problem be?

  • Need information on the Western Pleasure Debate?

I have to write a huge college paper about a trend/controversy. I know that there's a huge debate in Western Pleasure. I'd love to write a 10 page paper on it, but I have to have information about the new rules and judges views on the issues. If anyone could send me websites or magazines that could help that would be excellent.

  • Marching Band Question about being drum major and playing a solo?

To start off, I'm the head drum major this year for my school's marching band. There is one other drum major but I'm the head drum major. the problem is several things, 1. My mother is the band director. Its a hard thing telling people that I scored fair and square about getting the role as drum major.

The problem is at my school its tradition that we give the seniors solos. Problem is this is MY senior year and I'm already conducting. We're playing Grease this year and theres a big flute solo in Summer Nights. Its already planned that I'm marching durring that song. But I would like to play the solo since I'm the senior flute and tuba player. Would it be wrong if a drum major played the solo? My mother/director said that I should play the solo but I'm afraid that that would be to egotistic of me.

Next question, last year I was low brass section leader, since I'm drum major I'm no longer section leader. The low brass player who now is section leader thinks that she's the drum major.

  • Why Do you freak at the dentist?

I've asked this question before but, it got deleted some how. Have you ever freaked at the dentist before? and how did the dentist resolve it?

I had to get a TMJ testing thing and I freaked out so much because it hurt so bad that it took like one nurse to hold me head still and several others to calm me down while the dentist was checking for TMJ which I have pretty bad. The way he resolved it was just to finsh up pretty quick.

  • Using math in Equine Sports?

For my final this year we have to write a paper and do a 10 mintue visual presentation and a oral presentation. Our topic is math in anything. I thought it'd be really cool if I could show how math relates in equine sports. I know jumping but if you all could give me ideas and reasons it'd help a lot.

At the hospital they said that it was brused bad at the hip. I've been going to a chriopractor about it.
