A recent Dental Visit?

Last time I went to the dentist he said that I have a big dent like in the upper jaw. He said that 1 out of 5 people have this problem. He said its nothing big now but if I had to get dentures they'd had to do something sugrically. What is that? Are there any treatments?

The "dent" is caused by the development of "tori" which is an over growth of bone. The tori or protruding bone are often a problem with prospective denture patients; the denture can't slip over the protruding bone. This tori would need to be surgically removed giving your bone structure a smooth surface so the denture would seat properly.

If you had to get dentures they would have to build up your jaw surgically so the dentures would fit properly. I don't believe there is anything that can be done now. Sorry. The best thing is to take really good care of your natural teeth so you won't need dentures. God Bless.
