Be glad to help anyone who has questions in my field, professional advice (that you can understand) with dental problems, procedures preformed, pre/post operative, oral surgery, orthodontic questions or problems...or just help you find the answers you need. I am retired from dentistry, have two grown children, family works in dental, partner of dental bleaching company, two dogs rescued, love my puppies, kids, gardening, home remodeling that I do myself, out doors and planning projects that I know are sometimes just dreams or wishes, and of coarse everything about Dental. Very honest and caring person that always gives an answer based on my education and extensive experience.

  • Tamukeyama Japanese Maple Problem???

We planted this small tree about 7-8 weeks ago. Just recently I've noticed the tips of each of the lacy leaves are turning a whitish color. This started with just the end of one branch, (I thought the dog had maybe hiked his leg there) but is now on almost all of the tips of the leaves. Is this too little or too much water, fertilizer, sun? As you know this is a pretty expensive tree, it was actually a present for mothers day, so I hate to loose it if there is any way to keep from doing so. Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Pond Fish Water tuning green and cloudy?

I have a couple of questions that I need help with. I've read several different articles with very different answers, and thought maybe someone here could offer some insight.

I have a large pond with two coi and five large gold fish, a water lilly and a cat tail plant, two water falls and one large filter. I also have good alge growing on the bottom and sides of the pond, as suggested.

Do I need to continue feeding the fish? I've read they will live off the alge and food isn't necessary.

Also I would like to be able to see the fish in the pond, is there a way to clear the water up with additives or will it clear up on it's own, as one article suggested? Or, do I need to add another filter?

    I appreciate any answers!

  • Care of faux fur coat (interfacing) vinyl lining?

My Grandmother's beautiful faux fur coat was given to me. Only one problem, it has been stored in the closet for over 20 years in a vinyl coat bag. When we removed it, some of the inside lining was slightly stuck to the vinyl that is the inside interfacing of the faux fur. All along this vinyl interior facing is slightly sticky to the touch. Is there any conditioner or cleaner that can be used to restore this to its original condition, or is it completely ruined? The exterior of the coat appears to be as good as new. Any advice would be helpful.

  • Problem with rear air/heat in 2002-V8-Explorer XLT?

The front air/heat switch works on low and high but not in the middle, this is on any setting. Both of the 2 &3 levels on the switch blow the same as the #1 level does. I have two (2) 2002 explorers, one is V6 the second is V8 both have the same problem, so I am assuming that this is a "scheduled" worn out part, but which part? Suggestions to repair?

Also another problem, this is with the 2002 V8 explorer that has a rear air problem, it makes a constant knocking noise (even in the off position) that sounds like it is coming from the left (drivers side) back area, just above the tire, a/c does not work in rear, but it will blow air through all outlets. Any suggestions?

  • I am looking for a “tried and true” cookie recipe for Pecan Sandies?

I have lost a favorite recipe that I’ve used for years and can't remember. It is a true Short Bread cookie crumbly and dry, not so sweet with a delicate butter and pecan flavor. The dough once made is rolled into a log then wrapped with plastic and refrigerated for 30 minutes to an hour. This recipe is the one that would cause Kebblers stock to plummet. I have been eating all of the imitator cookies that are very close in taste or texture yet are ultimately, just tasty failures. I've had some help from my two dogs, but they seem disheartened these days, bolting from the kitchen at the mere mention of baking another batch of possible failures. They have been quiet a nuisance during the past few weeks of my baking spree, so their retreat is what I've found rather odd the past day or so. Although my attempts to find the replica recipe has been going on for the past 3 or 4 weeks, perhaps longer…..

  • Growing hydrangeas from root clippings?

    Growing hydrangeas from root clippings?

I have two hydrangea root clippings that I started from my plant several weeks ago. Today I removed both clippings (full of roots) from the damp sand bed, where I started the rooting process a few weeks ago. I've transplanted them into small pots using a rich, acidic soil mixture taken from my compost bin. My question is, should I plant these 3" root clippings directly into the garden bed taking a chance on winter, or should I keep them potted outside, or move them inside, until next spring? Hope someone here can help, I sure hate to loose them now after all the diligent care I've given them. I live in the southeast region with mild, but very cold winters. Thanks!

  • A question for all dental professionals?

Would you think that the use of dental bleaching trays at night might help to retain "some" of the moisture on the teeth, or enough to be of help, aiding in the reduction of dental caries associated with patients who suffer with dry mouth due to medical conditions or medications they take? I'm curious as to the response I'll get with this question, thank you all in advance!

  • Dental professionals etiquette towards each other?

Is it just me, or are there others that work in the field of dentistry who hold their profession, and all others that work in this profession, in the highest of regard. Especially those who pursued a specialty field which the general dentist relies on for their expertise with the more difficult procedures. The specialist practice relies heavily on the referrals of other dentist. A dentist may occasionally feel that their patients may benefit from a specialist “expertise” for certain procedures, that the dentist may be perfectly capable of performing, but it may be a very difficult, time consuming procedure for the patient. So for the comfort of the patient, they are referred to the specialist. So why would a dentist insult other dentist with remarks such as; “to goddamn lazy to perform RCT” and “should lose their license for not doing them” another comment was that “endodontist are despicable, lower form of dentistry, something lesser than the foreskin on a penis.” These remarks are obviously made by someone who has no respect for others (or himself for that matter) in this profession. I’m appalled by these derogatory remarks. My question: why would a professional bombard other professionals with such negativity that are in the same field?

Why won't my orchids open? Is it too much water, not enough? Too much sun, not enough? The buds have been there for over two weeks but just won't open, is it something I'm doing wrong or not doing that I should? Appreciate help from anyone who knows or grows them.

  • We need advice about son's new girlfriend?

My son and daughter live with me, both are grown. My son met a girl and got "involved" for 1 week, then she left for a Christian school which turned out to be rehab for alcoholism and anorexia, but she failed to mention the real reason until her last day here and he confronted her with it before she admitted it. She has been gone 1 week now and my son got a call from her father tonight telling him that she was leaving rehab or getting kicked out, and asking him if she can live with us. He has met her father 1 time and spoke briefly. We know she has some problems and takes medication for ADD but we don't know just what or how severe the “problems” are. My son is caring and is afraid that her family will put her out on the street. I'm concerned for both my son and her. I don't think they know each other well enough for this and I'm concerned about what may happen just from not knowing her well enough. We’re both a little shocked that her father even called my son asking this of him. We are willing to take her, but unsure of the consequences. So I said I would see what others had to say about this. Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated, so tell us….What would you do?

  • Breeding a Beagle without papers?

I bought (rescued) my beagle pup from a young couple in my neighbor hood who really couldn't afford her or the vet bills that go along with having a pet. She had been given to them by family member who had breed theirs but had no papers. It's obvious she's a pure breed beagle by markings, characteristics and personality, even my vet agreed. I've always been told it's best to allow a dog to breed at least once before having them spade to settle them down. There was even a conflict at the vet's over this. So, what I want to know is if I breed her with another beagle would anyone be interested in the pup's with no papers, or should I just get her spaded and be done with it. I know I bought her for $100.00, but I had too, she broke my heart. She and my cat and older dog have become the best of my friends. Anyway I'm sure if I do breed her, I'll have to ( oh God!) keep one, but I can't keep all of them! Would there be anyone who would want one with no papers?

  • What oil is used to Condition a Cutting Board?

I have a couple of wooden ones that get washed, bleached and I've used peroxide on them to clean. I've noticed some warping with one of them and a small split on the larger one. I know there is an oil used to condition them, but what is it and where can I find it?
