Tooth pain, possible cavity?
I have a certain tooth that hurts like none other when certain things hit it. Since I'm at college, I can't go to my family dentist, and I don't want to go if its a false alarm. What do you think?

Well, it could be a cavity, or something could have caused the gum and roots (of the tooth) to get irritated around the area of the tooth and that would by why it is hurting. Wait around a another week or so and if it still hurts, then you should try to hold cold or hot water in mouth giving sufficient time gap. If there is sensitivity, you should contact your dentist without much delay to get the cause diagnosed and treated.
Hope this helps!

It's not always a cavity, if you are older it could be a cavity or something like that. If you are younger and you haven't lost all of your teeth, it could possibly be a cavity, or your tooth about to come out.

Yep I think so. But check with the following just in case:
Examine your mouth in the mirror to see if you can spot any discoloration on your teeth.
Note whether you have an unpleasant smell coming from your mouth.
