Not to decide completely but it would be nice for us to take a vote and that be taken into consideration but like that will ever happen

Looking at the kaos with these elections, do you really think thins is a good idea? Besides, even IF they had people decide, we would still have about 50% disagreeing on it.

Decisions like this are supposedly why our elected leaders are in Washington. It would be nice if they listened to us.

We do by electing a representative to congress who supports our views and since it is congress that declares war we have the say so. The only problem with this is no one has asked a candidate would you declare war on a country that has not attacked us or one of our allies.

Sorry, I don't want 18 year old kids and idiots with less than a high school education making the decisions about what the most powerful military in the world should be doing.

No, that's the job of the Commander In Chief and Congress. They represent us. That's why we vote.

The answer by Heyden was ridiculous. "They might have family in the Military"? Umm, the job of the Military is to go and fight wars and defend our Freedom! Hello! If you join up it's not just to get a good job peeling potatoes and then a nice retirement package.

I do thank God everyday for our brave men and women who decide to volunteer to fight for Freedom and Liberty.

NO....most of the country is too ill-informed to make the decision and even if the information were put before them would be unable to evaluate it properly...this is why we have a representative form of government rather than a true democracy.

Edit-- Sarah, "half of the US is all nutheads..." I love it!

no because half of the us is all nut heads! and i would understand that a family wouldnt want their little johnny going to war but then there was no sence in him joining the army, joining anything like that always consider going to war

No, we need to be able to react quickly to attacks. National elections cannot be organized quickly enough.

You elect the president (commander-in-chief), and you elect senators (who must approve any action going beyond 60 days). Elect people who share your views on war.

    Yes.

No, because most people have no idea what is going on. Leave to the intelligent people who know what they are doing. If you voted no because you have family in the army, why did they sign up.
