    homemade for sure...w/lots of meatballs.

    fresh onions

    fresh garlic

    pinch of salt

    1/2 t sugar

    tomato paste

    tomato sauce

    veggies if your preference

    meatballs

saute 1 chopped fine onion w/1 chopped fine glove garlic in virgin olive oil. add salt, sugar. add one can tomato paste -two cans tomato sauce. (i use 3 cans tomato paste, 6 cans tomato sauce). i have a big family. stir. add more tomato sauce until you have the consistency you desire. (i like thick) add meat balls* allow to come to a boil, stirring frequently, lower flame and simmer all day. (at least four to six hours.) skimming grease off top as meatballs cook.

    * these meatballs will melt in your mouth. DO NOT FRY!!

1/2 to 1 lb ground beef

1/2 to 1 lb ground pork

    2 eggs

bread crumbs to consistency (sorry i don't really measure my ingredients, use your best judgment, the consistency should be firm enough to hold together, not loose, not dry....add more sparingly, if you use too much bread crumbs add another egg)

    seasonings (your preference)

roll into pool table size balls or smaller (again your preference.) drop into sauce to cook.

    enjoy:

note: i use hunts in the can on lazy days, or when i don't have time.

Usually I make my own sauce, but if I am in a hurry, I use Ragu, Sweet Basil and Sun Dried Tomatoes. Very good!

in a pinch any generic store brand and

add spices and Italian sausage to it

on a free day homemade sauce is best

    Ragi.

Homemade is good but it takes time so why bother if you can spice up the store-bought sauce?

I use Heinz tomato ketchup and a half a tea spoon of brown sugar. That's how my momma always made it and I'll be got damned if I'll ever make it any different.

Ragu has to be one of the best for store bought. I have no time to make it from scratch!

    Ideally home-made.

    Most of the time: store-bought.
