1988 Isuzu Trooper- Throttle Position Sensor adjustment.?
My trooper needed a new TPS. So I changed it. It's now running much better. The question comes to this. Is there a way to adjust the TPS? I notice it has slots on the mounting brackets. My Haynes Manual says nothing about an adjustment, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. Any Isuzu Mechanics out there who can give the definitive answere?

Some TPS's need to be adjusted to a very narrow return-voltage range. Your vehicle is a little less picky, but there is an acceptable range, as well as the "sweep test" which applies to any system. Since yours is new, you shouldn't have to worry about that much.
To test this item, you'll need a high impedance digital voltmeter, so that the meter doesn't suck up too much of the voltage, and throw the reading off. Besides checking the return-voltage at Idle and WOT, you could also check your reference voltage, and use an ohmmeter to make sure the ground circuit has very little resistance.
"Backprobe" means to check the terminals while hooked up to the TPS. All of these tests are with "Key On-Engine Off" except the resistance check of the ground circuit with the ohmmeter, which should be checked with the connector unplugged-Key Off.
