Monthly off-topic question. Global warming?
I am very confused. Global warming advocates blame dry weather, wet weather, lots of hurricanes, no hurricanes, cold and hot weather on global warming. What kind of weather is normal?
Does this mean that ice ages and also the famous "dustbowl" experienced in the U.S. in the early 1900s was also global warming? What about in the 70s when the "worlds experts" forecasted a new ice age?
There was a song by the Beatles, "Taxman". Well, Paul, George,John and Ringo, they are finally preparing to tax the air we breathe!
Clean air? Our air is cleaner now than in the past 100 years. Draw 1,000,000 dots on a piece of paper for molecules in our atmosphere and erase 38 of them to denote the amount of carbon dioxide.

Its unfortunate the politicians have got hold of the issue and made a mess of it.
Global warming, driven to a significant degree by human activity, is scientific fact. Take a look at who is denying it and you find mostly people who have a history of ignoring or opposing issues that go over their heads, or that somehow conflict with their religious beliefs. .
While I don't agree with many of the proposals to deal with it, it is clear that we need to do something soon or be prepared for the economic disasters that result from wild shifts in growing seasons and agriculture. Longer term, there is a lot less certainty about the possibility of runaway heating, but it seems prudent to avoid testing the theory in the real world.
Its not clear if the problems earlier in this century were related to human activity or part of natural variations. It doesn't matter. Human population and CO2 emissions have exploded since then. The data as of the 1970's may well have suggested a coming ice age at that time. Current predictions don't mean that was wrong, just that scientists didn't anticipate the CO2 effect we are seeing now. The underlying natural trend has been overwhelmed.

Note to crazy dave: What about Antarctica and Greenland, both significant land masses?

Global warming is nonsense. The Earth has been going through cyclical climate changes for millions of years. Right now we're just in a rising temperature cycle. Even if the entire North Pole melts, it shouldn't affect sea levels. Since there is no land mass for the ice to rest on, it can all melt and won't change anything. Just like a drink full of ice won't overflow when the ice melts.
Global warming is just the latest buzzword for all the liberals to blame the world's problems on the technological advances over the last 100 years.
But even though there is no "global warming", it doesn't mean we shouldn't take care of the environment. It would still be nice to have clean air and water.

When searching for answers always follow the money trail. Advocates and the doomsday crowd have found a cash cow on this subject. One of the main problems comes from poorly done models designed with even worse information. With out turning this into an essay, I'll just put this out there, Several years ago NASA sent up the first of a series of satellites. With most of the "Aqua" satellites now in place and sending info back it has caused several of the "global warming" models to be scraped. The new information will take years to fully incorporate into new models. One of the scientists had a very good article on the findings. (I'll add the link on Monday as I can't remember the link to the article.)

basically all weather is normal. what is not deemed as normal is the frequency of the extreme kinds of weather we have seen worldwide recently.
the issue may also seem like this because we have only recently been able to watch world weather every day on TV. more communication = more worried people
also, the world has extremely slow weather changes. if we are going into an ice age, we will not notice any difference year by year, maybe not even century by century. more like millenium by millenium.

global warming is fake! did you see how many record snowfalls there were this winter? - we are actually in a cooling period.
