Durban is reportedly the biggest and busiest harbour / port in Sub Saharan Africa. It can be fascinating just sitting by the harbur observing one ship after another going about their daily chores. There is the snake park, the beaches are extremely nice and clean. The history of the Zulu and Indian cultures could also be of interest at the museums, not to mention the "Rickshaws" (The human propelled fun rides) and a lot of kids entertainment right at the beach front. The evening four hour sea cruises are also fascinating.

Indaba is a huge annual tourism exhibition held at the Durban ICC and DEC. Accommodation establishments go to show their goods - each one has a "stall" where they have meeting with agents and operators and discuss rates etc. Tour operators also go to see what accommodation establishments are out there - alot of networking (ie business deals over glasses of wine) is done over this weekend as international operators also visit Indaba. One rule "what happens at Indaba, stays at Indaba"

Don't know much about Durbs - maybe someone esle can answer that part of the question for you
