At what age do babies begin teething?

my 4 month old keeps crying and rubbing on her gums. I know that she is not hungry or need a diaper change because I already did that.

Is it too soon for her to be teething?

Thank you for responding....

Babies can be born with teeth!! It is any age really but my little one had teething 'symptoms' about 3 months before she actually got any teeth, IE red cheeks, hand in mouth. Dont worry..it will pass in time :-)

There is not a SET age, every baby is different. My son started around 6 to 7 months.... And then some babies, like my friends who is a year old, and no teeth... and another friend, he baby started teething almost immediatly... LOL! Its so funny how it works out, ugh? Get some baby ambesol, or a warm or cold washcloth for her to suck on... If it gets really bad, then give her some Baby Tylenol. Or, maybe she could have gas. In that case, give her Mylecon. Its the BEST for baby gas, and totally safe for her to take, my son had to take it almost religiously when he was first born! But gas goes away with age too... Goodluck! Also, a warm clothe on the tummy helps gas too!

No, it's not too soon. Some babies are actually born with teeth! My child, OTOH had only three teeth at the age of two.

Get your child a teething ring that you can chill in the fridge.

BTW - my dentist tells me that teeth causes itching rather than pain. The crying is because the baby can't get to the itch.

  • Some babies are born with teeth. It's totally possible she's starting to teeth. You should be able to see the gums turning white (not seeing the tooth necessarily under the gum line but the gums themselves white) & swollen.

Babies start at different ages, It just depends on when the teeth are ready to come out. My son started teething at 2 months.

Some start teething earlier then others..

My son started when he was about 9 1/2 months old.

I've heard of babies starting about 5 months or so..

  • 4 months of age is a textbook age to start teething.

She can defiantly be teething, I have 4 kids and they always like a damp (Clean of course) washcloth to chew on. And if she's in pain give her a little children's Tylenol.
