Network printer going to wrong printer?

I have two identical printers (HP2015dn). They are both on the network, each has its own Ip address. I created a new port on each machine and named each port with the respective IP address. When I print a test page from printer properties, it works fine. But when I print a page from an application, it prints to the other printer. Doent make sense!

Update:

Its not a simple default issue. I have changed the defaults to the correct printer. BTW, I added these printers by created a new local TCP/IP port. Also, on one workstation, printing is working correctly under the admin login (where i installed the new printer) , but when I switch to the user account, print job is going to the wrong printer. ...... On another work station, prints go to the right printer from MS Word, but wrong printer when when I print from our Database app. Im sure this is a network configuaration problem, Im just not sure where to go from here

The application is likely printing to whichever printer is set as default...if you want to print to the other one you need to set it as default.

local printer settings are set up as example the ones that are sitting by your computer and you are the only one who is can print to it. A networked printer setting example is that of the one in the copier room that everyone prints to. Yes you can use a local printer as a network printer. Local and Network are just setting that are given to the printers. A local printer that is on a network can be used by anyone, but it has to be listed in the network directory. The disadvantages to using a local printer setting is that only that computer connected to it can use it. Using the network settings disadvantage is that everyone can print to that printer and sometimes jobs are lost if there is to much over flow.

That is the problem with using two identical Printers on a network. Try switching the printers around that will fix it. but it is doing that because the printer is printing to what ever printer is set to default printer try switch the right printer you want to default

When you print, use the "file" tab and print option. Then select the printer from the printer preferences option/menu. You may have the other printer set as a default and it will automatically print on that one instead of the one you want.

As the others have said it appears that your problem is due to which one is currently set as your default. Once you have dealt with that, I suggest that you go into Printers and give them unique names so that you can easily identify them.

    Good luck
