You're not going to die. The worst that could happen is the battery is fully charged and shorts out. Presumably it is not damaged enough to expose the battery contacts to your skin.

The best bet would be to wait for it to fully dry (possibly taking it apart first to dry more thoroughly, if you believe the insides have gotten damp, and assuming you don't have an extended warranty). The longer you wait the better. These cheap consumer devices aren't made to withstand being shorted out, so it's best to wait until it's completely dry.
