it's about a nissan...?
ok, i have been thinking really long about this. i have been really amazed of the performance the Nissan skyline does. but, now, i really want to own one. i found a website on where they sell them but i need to ask some questions. first, i live in Virginia, and i wanted to know if it would be possible to make legal here in Virginia?? or of it is illegal??? is the 2000 Nissan Skyline better than the new one (in anyway) or is the new one better than the old one???? please, tell me details specifically. i really need to know because if someone lets me know now, i'm better off trying to find another dream car rather than getting this Nissan sKyline dream ruined. I'm only 17 but i need to know because i am saving up for my dream car and i want to know now so i know what is the law and find a new dream car.

I always love the way mainly some US folks say the Skyline is overrated, although this is only an opinion of there's.
Answer above about a friend whom has spend that much on his car, again you have to judge something here a 700bhp Skyline ,must be a real beast and almost untouchable even to other cars like the one he has do to the power to wheels it would produce. Also a major factor which makes US owners made is that the Skyline cost so much in the US to start with so already it seems expensive, but say where i live and like my skyline it cost hardly anything to buy.R32 GTR'S go for $8000 so already you have a cheap supercar, and some mods which with Nissan producing detuned engines due to rule of them kept below 276bhp which the GTR'S never where and where let out with more power.so with few mods you can get 500bhp on its stock internals which is its true power stock for the engine. So to say its slow stock is only because its like turning the volume down on a cd player. So for us we get a supercar for little money few mods and great performance and handling which is fun at every corner.
Many countries are late starters with the Skyline and other countries have been enjoying it for years, myself wanted the R32 GTR when it came out in the late eighties. If these cars are overrated then why do some many tuners use them also why did motor racing rules change to stop these cars taking part due to them always winning every race. Why do tuners take these cars to over 1000bhp,why was the engine voted next to the supra engine as the most tuneable engines in the world.Need i go one.
As for better the R34 or the new GT-R it all depends on you, cost wise the new Skyline is expensive but well worth every penny and cheap for what it is.But it has to be taken to Nissan to be repaired parts will be a fortune until cheaper parts are made, Engine wise Nissan said you couldn't tune them but companies like mIne's already are.As for the R34 we will go with the GTR models.these are great cars and offer great performance with handling and again offer the RB26dett engine which as said is very tuneable you cant go wrong with either cars.Parts wise i have had two and never had any trouble with parts ,with the net and shipping and plenty of skyline clubs worldwide there is always plenty of parts to send out,Canada stocks loads now due to them having the R32 and the R33 models.
Yourself will have to do your research for where you live as many will say the Skyline is street illegal in the US but infact it differs between states, example some states require the car to be made LHD whilst others dont mind, some states require added safety features on older Skyline models. Some states will not allow the Skyline at all,but all states require the car to meet emission regs.
The easiest it bring in if you import one is the R33 96-98 models due to added safety features being stock at this point and these where models tested by Motorex as for the Motorex issue they didnt go to jail for selling bad Skyline although the false testing didnt help. But with the right money and mods other Skyline are creeping in and i see som many R34 Skyline on the net in the US nowdays.
So all those that say the Skyline is illegal it is and it isnt again it depends where you live and what puts people off is the cost of mods to make it meet US regs hence putting young buyers off and older buyers usually go for newer models of cars.

911 turbo test against the Nissan new GT-R
GTS,GTS-T,GT,GTT,GTS-4 models are still great cars and offer great power and are cheaper to buy overall. The GTR even more so the R34 is still expensive anywhere in the world again well worth its money but if your on a budget single turbo models are often the cheaper way to go.
I would find out first from your local Transport office to see which mods are needed if allowed on your state,True legends all are well before there time and offer great power and headturning looks. And i suppose you would be able to make any money back which you spent when you come to selling it again.
Other models are great cars but the Skyline's are the Daddies, even more so the single and twin turbo models.
if you can trouble or or not aable to have the Skyline where you live do look at.

It's definitely illegal. The Skyline isn't THAT fast from the factory (all Japanese Domestic Market aka JDM cars are advertised with less than or equal to 276hp, the skyline is underrated but not by hundreds of horsepower) and there is hardly a market for the parts in the states because it isn't legal to own a skyline and everyone who does got one from motorex before they got in trouble for bad business practices.
Other cars you might want to consider would be Nissan 240SXs, Nissan 300ZXs & Toyota Supras. All of them are highly tunable (especially the Supra, which is considered to be the Skyline's only real competition). Now of course they are all rear wheel drive as opposed to the Skyline's AWD but there aren't a whole lot of affordable reliable all wheel drive cars. The Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX is AWD but they aren't really that reliable compared to 300ZXs or Supras. Neither is Mitsubishi's other sports car the 3000GT. I can't really say much about the recent rally cars (Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution or Subaru WRX STI). As far as handling goes the 240SX is a legend and is considered the best drifting car for a pro or beginner.

These people know nothing, so listen up because i know all about importing JDM cars. I have a JDM S13 because I am in an Amature Drift League. First off, YES, IT CAN BE MADE LEGAL. It will take much money and time, but it can be done. Second, TO THE DUMBASS WHO SAID THE R34 IS NOT QUICK, YOU OBVIOUSLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT CARS. The R34 is the fastest AWD production car off the assembly line. But the R34 will be soooo expensive. You are looking at over $100,000 US dollars for just the car and shipping. But an R32 or R33 would not be as bad, and would still smoke anything on the street. They would cost the equivelant of around $10,000 US dollars to buy, and they are very common to find
in Japan. Shipping will cost a couple grand. Then it has to pass all safety and emmisions tests, which will require some changes, and an assload of expensive parts. But it can be done, but you could end up spending well over $60,000 for an R32 or R33 in all. And a R34 is expensive as hell even in Japan. For one of those, your looking well over $100,000 for everthing.

look the skyline is way overrated ,
stock skylines aint that fast nor that quick
if u wanna have a fast skyline u will need to put at least 500 hp on it and to get that much power in the skyline u will need to put around 10 000 on the engine , and it not realy worth it
my friend have skyline r33 with over 700 hp on it he spend over 50 000 just in th e engine plus 20 000 on the body and paint to make it look good ,,i have a 2006 z06 stock engine on it and i still beat him in the track or in the streets and i only have 500 hp on my car and he have pay alot more in upgrade than what i paid for mine car and if i invest 15000 on my engine i will get at leats 1000 hp on it so u do the maths ,
