Cant go on anymore?

My names Bradley I'm a young Nunga from South Australia. I work as an Aboriginal Health Worker which I find to be very rewarding because I am actually helping to improve my fellow Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal's health and wellbeing. That being said I'm manic depressant and has suicidal thoughts. I have been thru child abuse when I was younger. I have lost family members and friends espically when I needed them most.

Somedays I just dont want to get out of bed because I think i dont deserve the sun's rays or because my doona is actually my security from all my problems! lol

It sucks being a blackfella because there is so much racism and hate towars us... WHY? We are not all the same! I work and pay my taxes so why do us hardworking blackfellas deserve to be called coons and bludgers?? This also makes me quite depressed!

But lately I have just been thinking of ending my life because I just cant go on anymore............

    dont even think about ending your life, what a tragedy that would be, what a complete waste of "you" that would be. get help for your depression, it's out there. that being said, i completely understand your thoughts, and i agree, there is soo much racism and hate towards aboriginal people, and i just dont understand myself WHY. i think a lot of it has to do with the media, and how they only show aboriginals, on the streets, fighting, drunk, and their living conditions, etc.etc. but iv'e worked with, and been friends with decent hardworking aboriginal people, and it was a pleasure to do so. hold your head high bradley, be proud of your heritage, get out there and enjoy the sun's rays.....their shining just for you.

    Bradley, I'm sorry to hear about your sad life. I think we have all thought about suicide when we're really sad, but a day or a minute later you're feelings change. You say you are manic depressive, are you on any medication for that? It would probably help a lot. Perhaps you could move to the U.S. I think it is way less racist here, but it sounds like you are doing a lot of good in Australia. Just remember tomorrow is another day. I hope you feel better Hang in there and good luck, I will be praying for you :)

    Hello, Bradley

    As a health worker l am surprised you are not aware, but you obviously are suffering from clinical depression. You need a psychiatric diagnosis and meds and counseling.

    There is no doubt the stress of your situations, past and present, contributed to this illness, but the knowledge alone won't cure it, it'll make it worse, so l urge you to get help asap.

    As to your questions about discrimination and injustice, these are as old as mankind when three tribes got together and two ganged up against the third to gain land. goods, and slaves. Yes, it hurts, but it is so universal as to constitute part of a master plan, God's or nature's.

    Please don't think l am being dismissive or callous. Most ethnic groups have been in that situation in one century or another and l have been such a victim myself. l do offer you my sympathy and understanding and wish with all my heart that mankind would hurry up and change.

    l wish speedy health and resumption of your work. Your patients need you and you need the vindication that comes from ameliorating some of the wrongs.

    Honestly, stop talking about your skin color because it trashes your culture out which I bet you didn't realize. I don't care what color you are and the name-calling doesn't cause or have anything to do with anything unless you truthfully are lazy and are a racoon...are you, if not ignore it. I don't even know you and know that racoons are animals and not human beings. You are a healthcare worker for heaven sakes, I hope you know the difference. As far as who called you a "****" - they are being childish, that is point blank childish behavior. You noted you aren't getting out of bed on some days - gee that is laziness, stop that! Look, I'm a homemaker and as for myself and the bed and I only get along when if I get extremely sick, require 6-8 hrs, and I'm married ; ) Altho a bed is available for me to lay in all day long, I'd have to be tied down because it's way too boring to lay in bed plus I don't get into giving myself body aches and pains...are you achy, if so, that might be why. I know for a fact that skin has nothing to do with being over-whelmed also.

    What does a person do when they are over-whelmed? Each person can do something to get rid of that. Is it time to take a break by going on a mini-vacation, visit family/socialize, find a different job, a hobby, and if you aren't creative buy a cool puzzle, have a dinner party for example, grow plants, ...you know positive exists so reflect on that.

    ~~~Take care and smile : )
    Everyone has their own problems...and no matter who you are ...your age, race, your looks, whether you are male or female...guess what...someone is going to give you a hard time!....I'm a white girl...and my life is not any easier than yours...believe me...
    and very few people have it easy and many people are also depressed because of how their love life....or other interpersonal relationships...
    ....count your blessings...and what you do like in life...focus on those things....like you have a job....and you like the job and are helping people....there are very few people who have a job they like or that is a stable source of income or that they feel they can be proud of...
    Hi Bradley, I've also been a victim of child abuse both physically and psychologically. I know how much it hurts. You just gotta hold on and be strong!
