How wrote this and what book did it come fron?

    I did a quick google search and it is listed as Francis Bacon (the seventeenth century English writer) in a work entitled "The Advancement of Learning" if you go to google books and type in Bacon and this title, you can get the work, though it's a fairly poor scan.
