Is it ok to give a cockroach to your pet turtle??

Red-eared slider.

My father just gave her 2 cockroaches that look like this:

or something like these...I dunno

Is it ok? I mean, is it healthy for my turtle? She ate them in a minute, and seems happy :)

the only danger you might encounter feeding a pet insects found outdoors, or any that wander inside, is that they might have residues of pesticides on them

-that could make your pet sick.

if you live next to a wilderness area then I suppose the risk would not be as great, but most apartment complexes and housing developments are regularly sprayed with these chemicals.

we have a pet frog, and buy crickets for it at the pet store (petsmart, petco)

they are only 09 cents each, and our frog eats about 10 every 3-5 days.

these crickets are not exposed to any pesticides.

if your turtle likes crickets, you might consider going this route to get him some tasty crickets to munch on !

    good luck

hey,,I would say it is ok..they like most things..even banannas.but her is the statement from happy turtle:

    Live Prey

In this section we will discuss basically about live creatures that can serve as food for your turtle. This includes - feeder fish (goldfish & guppies), earthworms, mealworms, mosquito larvae, crickets, cockroaches, snails. You can either keep these along with your turtle in its habitat or culture them separately to give during feeding times.

What approximately sea-monkeys, Hermit Crabs or perchance a Turtle!!! i'm hoping I helped! in case you fairly want a computer virus i might flow with a walking stick computer virus. they're soooo cool! in case you get one you need to tutor your acquaintances and be like "i'm magic i'm able to make a stick walk!" LOL i be conscious of cheesy....

I wouldn't think it would be too horrible. They are omnivores and in PA we have cockroaches and RES. They would naturally encounter each other, though I would imagine RES would typically be too slow to catch them. They can eat worms, crickets, etc.

If the turtle eats them, it's ok. My cat used to love 'em!

I don't see why not. They can't be nastier than any other insect. If she is happy and doesn't get sick, then you will know. =)
