The sensor on the brake pedal is either defective or out of adjustment. It is not reading that the brake pedal is depressed and will not allow you to shift out of park. If is not that hard to replace the sensor.

I am not sure on that model if there is a separate switch or if one switch controls the brake lights and the park lock. Check to be sure that your brake lights are working before you drive the vehicle!

There is a manual release remove the semi round thing on the front of the shifter cover insert 3" narrow screwdriver vertically push down. It has to release. you can remove the shifter consol covers. And watch how the mechinism works. Have some make sure the brake lights are working possable fuse issue tow a trailer lately? Sticky beverages splash into the shifter and stick the shift lock release solonid. Also in cold climate the shifter key cyl interlock cable grease may become sticky Not allowing the shifter to release that thin cable is on the right side and travels up to the ingnition key lock sometime all it needs is adjusting

4.0 engines have a problem with timing chain tensioner.Sounds like a super charger whine.Check with your dealer about the tsb on chain tensioner.I know it is a big expense to get fixed.I had the same problem with mine.Hope this helps.
