IPOD format?
Is it okay to use the format function on my IPOD to clean it up? I want to format it, and use it as a temp HD for awhile, before using it for music again. Can I format it and then reuse it again for music at a later date? Or will formating it ruin the device?

Formatting it will not hurt it at all. I use mine for an external drive. Depending on what system you are on, for a PC you should format using FAT32. For a Mac, you can use just about any. Journaled preferred.

formatting will delete everthing on your devise...
you won't be able to use it until you restore it using itunes
if you want to change the file system, i'd prefer you to keep it on FAT32
