Any opinions on tubal ligation?

I am 34 years old. I have three children (7, 2, and 10 months) and two stepchildren (14 and 6). I definately don't want any more children. My husband had a vasectomy consultation after our last child was born. He was already chicken, and the doctor said he was a 5 out of 10 on a difficulty scale (of performing the operation). Well, almost 8 months later... I have made an appointment to have a tubal ligation consultation. I am very nervous about this, but I have had a TIA/ministroke and cannot take hormonal birth control. We have been using condoms, but I worry about getting pregnant nonetheless. Any advice, words of encouragement as my appointment approaches? Thanks for your help.

Why did he chicken out on the operation? If a vasectomy is a 5 out of 10, then a tubal ligation is 8 out of 10.

Honestly does he know it will take 6 to 8 weeks for you to recover and for him it will only take 2-5 days?

A vasectomy is s piece of cake. I don't understand his fear. I had mine done on Friday, and was back to work on Monday.

Anyway as far as the tubal ligation is concerned my girlfriend says it is nothing.

My husband and that i had this communicate formerly we've been given married- comparable time as we reported in spite of if or no longer we would have enjoyed little ones and how many we the two could go with My husband says he does not even evaluate it an decision- in his techniques a vasectomy is the only thank you to flow if I have been you, i could basically look on the calendar and p.c.. a convienent date a pair of month or so away, then tell him you are going to call the surgeon to work out in case you are able to not get him an appointment for the vasectomy on that day. See how he reacts. If he's high-quality with it then making the appointment for him substitute into the rush he mandatory. If he has a difficulty, then this would additionally be a push to speak with you approximately that difficulty. *edit* i know no one likes to think of roughly this yet...what if something befell? dying or divorce...vasectomies would nicely be reversed yet tubal ligation has a lots decrease fulfillment fee for reversals. If the two of you regulate into to marry back and choose on extra infants with that guy or woman, your ultimate guess could be a vasectomy.

I had my tubes tied 15 months ago. BIG mistake. My periods are like red rivers and last for a week. And, they come and go whenever they please. Horrible cramping and stomach aches. My new headaches feel like someone is stabbing a knife through my skull. I had none of this before my tubes were tied. I can't remember the name but there's actually a syndrome for it. My advise to you would be to get an IUD. Good luck!
