Why are people trying to re-define racism in their favor?

Here we go again with people confusing the definitions of racism and discrimination (or making up their own definitions).

Racism is prejudice which is based upon so-called "race". It is the belief that "race" accounts for distinctive human characteristics and abilities. And it may OR MAY NOT include irrational feelings of hatred, superiority, fear, and/or separatist beliefs. Racism = Racial prejudice.

Prejudice involves preconceived adverse judgments or opinions without examining, or with complete disregard for, the facts. Prejudice = Biased inclinations for or against.

Discrimination is treatment or consideration given to an individual solely on the basis of "race", religion, class, gender, etc... Discrimination = The act of showing partiality/prejudice. Racial discrimination = One form of discrimination; "race"-based discrimination.

The above being said, anyone can be prejudiced. Therefore, common sense dictates that anyone can be racist. One need not be a member of the majority to be prejudiced or racist. Nor does one need to be a member of a "powerful" group to be prejudiced or racist.

Everyone is at risk of experiencing discrimination. Logic dictates that, yes, "blacks" are more likely to experience racial discrimination in any area where "whites" comprise the majority of the population. However, logic also dictates that "whites" are more likely to experience discrimination wherever they are the majority since there are so many forms of discrimination. In other words, while "blacks" are more likely to experience racial discrimination wherever they are the minority, "whites" are more likely to experience all other forms of discrimination wherever they are the majority.

Another point that I would like to make- one that I've made more times than I can remember- is that it isn't "white" that dictates who's "high" and who's "low" in this country. It's class. The master class generally couldn't care less about "race". To them, we're ALL inferior. Of course they don't want people to recognize this. So they perpetuate racism (among other things) to keep us all preoccupied with other matters. At the end of the day, most of us are too over-worked, too tired, and too angry to realize that we're all trying to stay afloat in the same damned leaky boat.

Racism is akin to sexism, homophobia, religious persecution, and all the others that people inflict on each other: It's done by a dominant group to make the lives of the minority a misery.

White folks getting indignant because they've been slighted by somebody haven't the foggiest idea what it is to be persecuted, hounded, hated, despised, beaten, relegated, and made fun of, day after day, year after year. The amount of psychological trauma you can inflict on a minority person is unimaginable. Believe me.

So, until you've lived the lives of those you are trying to belittle and demean - by actually suggesting other races are culpable too, I suggest you think again before posting trite like this. History, organized groups, and individuals I meet every single day tells me that it is MOSTLY white folks who are deluded racists. Whether out of stupidity, fun, beliefs, or inferiority complex - I don't care. You hypocrites make me sick. Play the blame game someplace else and take a reality pill. OK?

The dictionary is dominated by the racists / white supremacists. You have to use your own research and education to understand what racism is.

edit: I disagree So-called Black Supremacy is a concept that happened because of Racism / White Supremacy. It is a concept that doesn't exist because, you cannot have two groups in the supreme position. If anything so-called Black Supremacy is a resistance to Racism / White Supremacy because Racism / White Supremacy Is a system that has become a REALITY, it EXIST and has dominated and subjugated black people on the basis of color historically and presently.

To eliminate confusion I combine Racism with White supremacy because that is the only OPERATIONAL Racism that has been in existence, that is the only Racism that has POWER behind it.

edit: Racism / White Supremacy has already put themselves in THAT position and is more dominant than so called Black Supremacy. If not then why are black people classified as black? Do you think black people classified themselves as black before their arrival to the America's? Who created these racial classifications? And who brought blacks here?

I don't see how you can hear 'white people are racist' from either definition and there doesn't appear to be any kind of favouritism in either definition either.

Obviously other races can be racist towards white people. The many derogatory terms for white people are proof of this.

I am white and dealt with racism when I was growing up in an area that white was a minority. Racism towards white people is the only form of racism that American society allows.

I'm not sure where you get that white people are the only ones being called racists? if you're white, then people are using that towards you, and it doesn't mean that other races aren't being called or considered the same.

In short: because liberals don't understand any point of view except their own.
