¡What´s the best way to educate "misfits"?!?

A misfit will always know they are out of place but you would need to find a way to make them feel comfortable with who they are. Before you can help a person with anything they have to know they are worth it, yes they may be different but that makes them special. I think each person has their own way of learning and sometimes it takes a special person to sit down and take the time to get to know somebody and learn how to teach them. If a person takes the time with somebody like that it makes a difference right off by just letting them know that you care. You have to stick with them through the good and bad until they trust you and sometimes the confidence they gain is mostly what they need. The kids who are different can sometimes be the smartest kids when they feel better about themselves and know they will be accepted either way.

Start by removing the "label". Just because children do not do and act as most everyone else, by no means indicates they are a misfit. They may be different and different is just fine!!

Then, you pay attention to them and find out what they love to do and you go with it. If they are very crafty then you may want to include some type of crafty thing in whatever subject you are doing-let them make a poster for language, draw/make a picture for history, do an experiment for science, use small caps as visuals in math. If they love to read then take them to the library and let them pick out tons of books on the topic they are learning about. Figure out how they learn best.

Take advantage of those teachable moments!!

Depends what you mean by 'misfits'. If you're talking about bright children who don't fit in well with the school crowd, their peer pressure and dress rules then home schooling can be a good option. It will certainly allow them to concentrate on getting a good education and release that inner genius, free of the pressure and bullying that so often results when you can't or won't fit the standard mould.

First off, don't label them "misfits." That's what the school system does - and it turns out thousands of misfits a year.

Secondly - let the student follow his or her passion. They lead the way - you provide the materials and opportunities.
