Camping Near Tucson?

I don't wanna go to Mt. Lemmon or Catalina state park or Patagonia. I'm looking for somewhere not so populated. I've been out to state trust land with my permit before and still been bothered :) I'd like to find somewhere not to far out an hour or so drive. I'd like to get away with some friends and relax. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks

i have lived in Montana & Wyoming for 36 years but some of the greatest hiking i ever did was in the Tucson area in the mid-1980's. i do not know about the cops now with all the illegal Mexicans but south-west of Aravaca was the most incredible area in the world. west of Helmet Peak we found ancient pit houses and grinding stones plus many artifacts made of melted copper (and we caught an ate rattlesnakes up to 5' 5" long). the Dragoons were great and the area around Dos Cabasas (we found an 8 inch spear point) over to New Mexico had Ponderosa Pines over 4 feet in diameter and caves full of crystals ... and believe it or not a black bear for campmate.

i'm counseled optimal human beings rigidity 5 hours and quarter-hour to get to the Canyon and then stay for quarter-hour. there's a cool new skywalk which juts out over the canyon. Plug in Skywalk perfect right into a seek for engine to get concepts.
