What was your reaction to finding out that Dumbledore is gay?
I was disppointed in Rowling becase I thought she used a cheap tool to help the "gay rights movement" by making him gay where it wasnt really necessary to do so.

I didnt think it was necessary either. It put a dark shadow over the last book for me, because I'd just come off the high of finishing an epic series, and she comes out with that cheap stunt and ruined it.
I have nothing against gays, but him being homosexual wasnt relevant to the story

"Necessary to do so"? She said so in an interview when asked a question that required an answer. She said that she had always thought of him as gay, and so he effectively was.
I don't like the Harry Potter series that much, but I'm not a homophobic. Christ...

Honestly, I still don't see why she had to do that. Publicity stunt? What for, after all the hype that was created over the last book int he series, it was not necessary. I just don't get it. And it didn't change my opinion on Dumbledore, I don't consider his sexual orientation relevant at all.

I remember one article about that gay thing! :)
I think Rowling try to prove that gay are not weak to ur society or something like that! I dont know, but i agree with you somehow Dumbledore should not be gay it's too weird xD

I don't think it helped the gay rights movement because if you think about it, it was obvious he was gay before she announced it, but it had no significance then. It wasn't at all necessary for her to announce it - it just made kids judge him.

i was like no way, why would he have to be gay? what does it have to do with harry potter? but when i thought about it throughout the whole book you could tell he was, he didnt have a wife or anything, his "best friend" grindelwald was probably the guy that he liked/loved and all this other stuff

It doesn't matter. Dumbledore is still a great character, and he hasn't lost any of my respect.

So he's come out of the closet, has he? Better than Robin, the caped crusader's side-kick, who has left us wondering!

I thought it was unnecessary, but I can't say I hated it, I thought it was quite funny!

it was completely random, pointless, somewhat attention-seeking, and cheap. i laughed my head off though when i found out.
