Speech delay?

My son is 9 months old and only recently started to babble (saying mamamama, babababa) but not actually using the words correctly. He can say mama, but he doesn't know what it means. He does respond to his name, and he knows what "no" means. I'm just wondering if this is something I should be concerned with or if he's okay.

LOL! Don't worry, this is exactly where he's suppose to be! My son is 20-months and just now started saying "Mama" because I'm around him all the time so he never had to use it. Around 11 months he started saying "Dada". Now, he says, "Bye-bye Daddy, apple juice, "got to cool", HOT, Choo choo, GO!, STOP!

My son is 8 months old and can only say babababa. He can't even make the "da" sound at all.

He's in physical therapy. The speech therapist came to chat with us and said as long as he babbles with the sounds "ga, ma, da, and ba" at 10 months, he is fine. Hopefully he will get there. They only worry if they're not doing it after 10 months.

He is only 9 months old!!!!

He is exactly where he should be for talking, just experimenting with making different sounds. Some kids don't really start talking until they are 2 or more, and that's not unusual either.

No its nothing to be concerned of yet. babies develop differently if hes not able to use more words correctly by 18 months thats when i would consider bringing it up to your babys doctor

    what did your doctor say??

    every baby develops differently.

what your baby is doing is what is normal for him.

if your that concerned, then check with his doc.

  • hes probally just a slow learner if hes premature or not idk, but the girl i baby sat is 1 and 2 months and is just saying mama and cooing so nothing to worry about

  • I realy don't now, but i think its normal. becaus every child grow as he ned to grow..It's live..:))
