Question about scheduling with new employer?
A new employer whom I start with next week has scheduled me for several shifts which conflict with my schedule at my current job (this new job will be my second job for extra money). This happened despite my explicit availability given to them a week ago. Do they have to remove me from those conflicting shifts and can they take any action against me if I don't work them? Any one in a management position somewhere that could help me is welcome to answer. I am looking for some kind of guideline, I know every place is different.
I have already talked with a supervisor about it but still want to know what would happen if they take no action to fix it.

that's the problem when you try and work two jobs - they don;t care what your other schedule is - every employer expects you to treat your job with them as top priority and they will schedule you as they NEED you, NOT WHEN YOU ARE AVAILABLE - no employer works like that - looks like you'll have to quit, because you will get fired if you miss scheduled shifts
