Dry flakey skin?

When I brush my cat (black Domestic) I end up bringing a lot of dead skin to the surface, and on the brush. The house is dry from the winter heating season, and he eats only dry food. He is otherwise healthy and active for a 10 year old cat. Any dietary supplements that might help with the flakey skin? His fur is thick, and a bit dull.

Update:

He's a fussy eater, and will turn up his nose at wet/moist cat food. Even when we open a can of tuna fish, he wants nothing to do with it !

Try adding wet food to his diet. I recommend a high protien, grain free food such as Innova or Wellness. This will help him to remain more hydrated, which is especially important as cats become older. Also, add a humidifier or two to the house. This will really help with dry skin, for both cats and people. You can also try adding a fish oil supplement to his food.

We give our cats a treat everyday of wet food, especially tuna or salmon, we get special kitty. The oils in it is good for their fur.

What do you feed him? Poor diet can lead to poor skin. My cat used to eat cheap grocery brand cat food and their skin was dry and flakey, then i changed to much better food and their skin is flawless and their fur is soft.

You could try missing link for cats...that might help.....
