My balloon molly just had fry about a month ago, and she wasn't even that big. About 20 babies popped out of her little body. She was black, so the gravid spot I did not see. They should get a little plump, and almost squarish in the belly when they're close to birth. I can't really tell if she's pregnant by the pictures, but it's hard to tell with balloon mollies anyway. Chances are she is pregnant, because females can store sperm from previous mates and are probably pregnant when they come to you from a pet store. They can use the sperm at any time until it "expires".

The gestation period is about 28-30 days so you should be ready for when they do come. Buy baby brine shrimp (live, frozen, or freeze-dried) or Hikari First Bites. You can find these at a your local pet stores. Also, you might want to think about live or fake plants. This will insure that the babies wont get eaten when they are born. You filter might suck up a couple, so you might want to use elastic and attach a old net to the intake tube. Or you can just buy a divider for your tank, and put them on the side without the filter.

    Hope this helps!

what you wanna look for is little black spot looking things through the part of her belly thats larger than normal those will be the eyes of the fry no joke my molly is prego too. i got a tank separator to alleviate stress make sure to feed her two to three times a day as well

its possible that she may have early signs of being pregnant, although compaired to the orange fish next to it, it doesnt look really pregnant. if she continues to get fatter and fatter, look for a gravid spot on her... opening!! HAAA!!! 8} i see the breeding net in your tank. Way to be prepared! if she getts fatter and fatter, then put her in the breeding net with PLENTY of hidding places.

    anything else? Email me PLEASE!!!

    i luv hearing your questions!!!!

They're called baloon mollies because they're all puffed-up, like balloons. She could be pregnant.
