Recommended novels.?

Hi,

My mum is looking for some really good novels to borrow from the library.

Could you please give me some names of great novels that you might have read or somebody else has recommended to you.

She would very much appreciate it!

Thanks!

Jodi Picoult has some good books available. My Sister's Keeper is pretty powerful.

Alice Sebold's books, The Lovely Bones and Lucky, are both good as well. The Lovely Bones is told from the point of view of a 14 year old murder victim and Lucky is the author's memoir when she was raped the last day of her freshman year of college. Both tough subjects.

For books on a lighter note, Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. The main character is learning to be a bounty hunter, and she gets into some interesting situations. Not books that will go down as classics, but still a bit crazy and fun.

The Kite Runner is a very good book. I saw someone mention this one. The other has another out that also has very positive reviews.

If she likes historical fiction at all, try Philippa Gregory. I enjoyed The Other Boleyn Girl and The Virgin's Lover (about Elizabeth).

I highly suggest 2 series. The Divergent Series by Veronica Roth. 1) Divergent 2) Insurgent 3) coming out sometime next year The I Am Number Four Series 1) I Am Number Four 2) The Power Of Six 3) The Rise Of Nine (coming out 21st of this month) *woot woot* But both of these series have me hooked and wanting more. I didn't think after the Hunger Games I'd ever find another good book like it, but these come really close! Enjoy your holiday and happy reading! :)

It would help if you gave your age and interests, but here goes:

    http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com/

Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book along with a brief summary of adult content. There is also a "Reader's Choice" list of favorite books, and a list of heroine sorcery fantasy books.

Also these: http://www.interleaves.org/~rteeter/grtother.html#... . Lots of lists, but I especially like the Harvard Classics list - all the books that I should have read, but (mostly) never did.

Finally, these: http://www.awardannals.com/wiki/Honor_roll:Genres - pick your genre, find the best books ranked by how many awards they've won.

    I hope this helps.

Well, what does she like to read?

    Fiction. Romance, Biographies??

If she has a library account, she could go to the library website and select from a list of categories.

Try Nora Roberts. Its good for passtime reading.
