There is a free program called audacity.

    You can get it on

    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Then you get the encoder for mp3 files, which is called the LAME encoder. You can find it here:

    http://lame.sourceforge.net/index.php

Install Audacity, and then open your song with it

    File>Open

Select the portion of the song that you want, and then click trim.

    Edit>Trim (Or just press control-T)

    Then export the file.

    File>Export as MP3...

Save it, and then it might ask you for the lame encoder. Find where you downloaded it to, and select it.

Repeat this process to split the song into as many parts as you want. This program is free and extraordinarily powerful. Play around with it, its fun! It also has no viruses, I promise.

    Good Luck!

You need some kind of audio editing software that allows you to select a portion of a file and save it as another smaller file. Audacity is free open-source software that can do this job.
