As a giants fan i have given him a year to show me that he is worth the 126 million dollars. He has been a bust since coming over the bay to S.F,he is not worth 126 mill, right now....his fastball sucks and he is not hitting his spots, even if he could pitch 7-8 inning and held teams to 2-3 runs, the giants cant score runs. Zito needs to stand at entrance gates and give some of the money back to the fans, is just fair. Just be glad the Giants got rid of Matt Morris when they had the chance or else you would have two big losers instead of one!
So far i would have rather given matt cain of the giants that money. Zito had a bad year last year and he is about to be 0-5. Sry if i sound mean but i havnt seen him pitch a decent game. I dont know if u saw the last game when he got taken out in the 5th inning cause he gave up a double to the pitcher and two runs scored but the giants coach looked pissed and didnt give zito a pat on the back.
He needs to pay the giants for letting him play on the field

As of now he is a major bust. Up until Johan Santana signed an extension with the Mets Barry Zito received the richest contract for a pitcher in the history of the game. Over the past few years we have seen a major decline in his fastball speed and have seen him become more inconsistent in the strike zone. In the past he had a fastball which was clocked in the mid 90's, and he had excellent location of it. This made his curveball that much better and this would be in the back of the hitters heads so it kept them off balance. Now his fastball is topping out in the mid to upper 80's and he has major toruble controling it. His curveball is right around 86 mph so there is really no difference between the fastball and curveball. zito has also lost control of his curveball so hitters just sit on the fastball and it is almost impossible to fool major league hitters with a fastnall of 88 mph.

The contract was crazy, and that isn't the fault of Zito's. And I believe he has tried too hard - pressing - to live up to the numbers. But by looking solely at the figures and what he has delivered....unfortunately, it has to go down - right now - as a player who is a bust.

Zito is not a bust hes been around long enough to jknow when he needs to get it under control. hes just struggling every pitcher does at one time or another, just give him time. who else has a curve that breaks like that not many.

He's making $14 million this season and he's 0-5 with an ERA around 5, I believe. Yeah, he's a bust.
I wonder if the A's cursed him when he moved across the bay to the Giants.

Right now, he's a bust. If over the next 2-3 years he has 1 or 2 Cy Young caliber seasons, he wont. But right now, he's a Kevin Brown sized bust, but (dollar wise) much, much, bigger.

He belongs in the history of Bust-ology. He is at least in the top 5 of the history of baseball ( it depends on which team you cheer for ).
