teens and parents of teens?
recently I have noticed some behaviors in my youngest son who has attention deficit disorder, the changes are that he is
becoming more grownup and respectful with the way he handles others. For example the way acted last night it the past when he was corrected on making a mess in the kitchen or bathroom, he would always say it wasn't him that made the mess but last night he actually looked his dad in the eyes and told him he was sorry and he would clean it up and not do it again. He is also tried to put more effort into school. I am proud of him and want to let him know but don't want to embarrass him either. any ideas on what to say to him.

usually when my mom mentions something like this i think she's gay. also i kinda like to do the opposite of what people say so, if you say something like"ooo im soo proud of the responsible man you're becoming" i'd probably would drop the responsible crap. i don't think you should say anything to him. this is just the way he is now. its no big deal. he doesn't need praise or attention, he just probably thinks its expected of him. One day do something really random, that's not expected, like take him out for ice-cream, and he'll probably get the message.

Sounds to me like your boy is growing up. It's a nice feeling isn't it?
Why not buy him something he's wanted for a while (like a game or something like that) and tell him you're proud of him. Even if he acts embarrassed, chances are he'll appreciate the compliment.

well that's great for you! maybe you could buy him something or take him to a theme park to show him you are happy and proud of him. im sure you telling him wont embarrass him. just say "wow you have been really adult about things lately, you are acting like a man instead of a teen" being called a man always makes guys feel great in their teens.

I had a in basic terms right help gadget and loving family contributors it truly is significant having a baby youthful. i do not imagine at any age you're prepared for the time-honored jobs a baby needs and also you study as you move.. you could make it and be positive and the youngster can enhance up and by no potential be effected via being so youthful once you had her believe me, my daughter is 10, immediately A student, I went to varsity, stay to inform the tale my personal and characteristic been because i grow to be 19, I do it on my own with the help of my family contributors and husband.. better of success to you and your infant and do not enable a number of those posts get to you, they dont understand you or your up bringing..

To be honest, as a teen the best way to say it, is to literally do just that, say it. But, say it as you would say it to another adult. Even if he shrug it off (which I bet he will) I can promise you he'll feel at least a bit of pride in realizing that you noticed.

Really? Parents reward kids for good behavior and not acting like chickens without heads? Damn...my mom would reward me by NOT hitting me with the horse crop. Or it would be..."You get A-!!!!....you are a failure, you're not going to have a future, you won't be able to pay your mortgage!...you go read Greek Prose till you learn your lesson!"
And I am not kidding you.

You could reward him with a trip somewhere or something that he desires (video games, clothes...)

I think maybe you should let him go to the movies with his friends
