Computer Speaker Help (no sound)?

Ok, so I just bought speakers, plugged them in and got no sound. When I went to the configure menu, the speakers made sound when I pressed the "test" button. However, when I use applications, such as games or the internet, the speakers make no sound. My speakers are set as default and I have a realtek soundcard. I also have windows vista. My other speakers worked the other day but now when i plug them back in, they dont work anymore. I tried downloading a drive for my sound card, but it says i am up to date. I dont want to format my drive; can anyone help?

Check your Sound setting from control panel or try changing wires from the back..

Are these 5.1 speakers with a receiver? If they are, check the receiver and set it to Stereo.

If you have a 5.1 sound card, you must configure it to match with your 5.1 speakers.

Refer to your sound card's documentation.

You may also check if your app is set to the correct volume. Windows Vista does not set volume controls to WAV, CD or LINE like XP. It sets it to a specific application.

Single right click on the speaker icon on your system tray and click on Mixer. Check the app you are using if the volume is set correctly.

ok..well might be something wrong with your driver so there for go to run..type in services.msc then go to plug and play..under where the p's are then make sure that is running and set as automatic..other then that try to wrapp your speaker cords around the speaker sometimes its the simple thing like that..but like go to like your volume control like and make sure its not on mute..if it is then unmute it and it should be fixed..thanks

You need to download and install some sound drivers. You should be able to get them from your computer manufacturer's website.
