1993/94 Mitsubishi V6 Galant Auto Transmission only has 1st Gear.?
The car is an Australian delivered V6 ( 2.0 Litre ) 5 Door hatchback I "Believe" the mechanicals are the same as 4 door versions sold elsewhere in the world.
The Transmission will only hold 1st gear regardless of what forward gear is selected , There is no reverse gear at all & the engine speed does not have any effect on the problem.
Transmission Fluid is Clean & at the correct level.
The problem started out as slipping & loss of Gears whilst in drive , Loss of all drive in any gear & the finally to the present problem.
The Transmission was rebuilt by the previous owner only a few months ago , He indicated that the had a similar problem and returned the car to the Gearbox rebuilder who fixed it stating that it was some form of Electrical Fault.
Taking the car back to the Rebuilder is not an option as I have shipped the car down from interstate & the rebuilder is aprox 2,000 Kilometers away.
I have NOT tried to read off any Transmission Computer Fault codes as yet.

If the transmission was slipping there is an internal problem. The transmission could have electrical issues as well. I would contact the rebuilder and explain the problem. He may recommend you to take it to a local affiliate to have it checked at no expense to you. If you get a bad response take it to a repubitable shop yourself. Good luck!
