How to learn south indian languages?
I am a Tamil. I can only speak a small amount of Tamil, but I can write most or all the characters and understand the sounds and variances in how to pronounce them. I feel ashamed that I am Tamil and I can't speak my mother tongue. I live in New Zealand and I was born in this country as well. My native language is English. I am 15 years old.
My question is, how can I learn Tamil (Sri Lankan or Indian derivatives) in the easiest way? I am also interested in the other 3 south Indian languages (also I am interested in Sinhala, I want to learn these too, but I shouldn't get to jumpy. I understand that these languages are closely related and that they are derived from Dravidian - and the written script is derived from Brahimi.
Anyone have any tips? Thanks in advance.

Well, I live in Canada, and if you really want to meet a lot of Tamil people and learn from them, you should really come here. There is a considerable population of Sri Lankan Tamils here. But most likely that's too out of the way - and cold ;). Honestly though, you can try the software called the Rosetta Stone, which teaches languages. I know it has Hindi, if you are interested in learning that (sorry, don't know which Indian languages are southern), and may include expansions for some other Indian languages as well.
Probably the easiest way though would be to go on Tamil language forums or something. I'm sure there are probably some out there for people in the same position as you for learning Tamil.
Good luck!
