Word meaning two meanings?
I am having trouble thinking of a word that has a definition which is: two meanings, or something associated with a double meaning.
E. g. A metaphor's idea is _________. It has a nonsensical denotation and a understandable figurative meaning.
E. g. Othello's ______ characteristics lead him to his death but also make him who he is.
Thanks for the help in advance
4 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoIdentification of language features.?
I require some help on English (usage of language). I am unsure about a certain language feature: when an entity is referred to by a glorified noun phrase, what is this language feature called?
For example, "Almighty Being", "Great Author", "Invisible Hand" and "Parent of the Human Race" are noun phrases used to refer to God, and these noun phrases are sound dignified. Is this language feature third-person, allusion or labeling? Or is it simply not a language feature?
Thanks for the help in advance.

This was on an exam paper that I did a few months ago. I don't know the answer, because the answer scheme for this paper is not out yet. Anyway, I cannot figure it out nor can my peers, so I thought I would post it here.

1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoRegrets from childhood?
When you reflect upon your life, childhood, and adolescence, did you ever get the feeling that you wanted your parents to push you more into certain areas (such as sports/culture) or that your development in a certain area could have been better if you were in a difference environment?
For example, do you ever regret not learning an instrument, now knowing that having the ability to play instrument is required for academic success and right now it is too late to learn an instrument? And this also for sports, if you had more pushing parents, you could be an amazing athlete only if you started playing a sport - such as football - when you were very young. Furthermore, if you grew up in America and not a different country, you would have a better education and hence a better life.
What do you guys think? I am just curious.
4 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoWhy is the code "DR" given to debit?
Just wondering...
A "CR" code is given to Credit transaction, most probably because it forms a abbreviation. However this does not make sense for Debits, when it is given a code "DR", because there is no 'r' obviously. So why is the "DR" given to a debit transaction, what does the 'r' mean?
2 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoHow to learn south indian languages?
I am a Tamil. I can only speak a small amount of Tamil, but I can write most or all the characters and understand the sounds and variances in how to pronounce them. I feel ashamed that I am Tamil and I can't speak my mother tongue. I live in New Zealand and I was born in this country as well. My native language is English. I am 15 years old.
My question is, how can I learn Tamil (Sri Lankan or Indian derivatives) in the easiest way? I am also interested in the other 3 south Indian languages (also I am interested in Sinhala, I want to learn these too, but I shouldn't get to jumpy. I understand that these languages are closely related and that they are derived from Dravidian - and the written script is derived from Brahimi.
Anyone have any tips? Thanks in advance.
