How do I find out which type of PC system do I have?
I'm running Windows XP on a desktop. It's pretty old.
I'm trying to install an external hard drive to back it up which only supports 32 bit. I tried installing it, but computer doesn't recognise it. I need to know if my computer is 32 bit. It has AMD Duron processor 701 MHz, EP-8KTA mother board. How do I find out? Control Panel->System properties doesn't show this information.

The only processors today that are 64 bit either are AMD 64 line or the Core 2 Duo and Pentium Dual-Core lines.
Your machine is 32-bit.

youre so cute :)
every standard computer today is a 32 bit system.
btw installation of hard disk has nothing to do with 32 bit or 64 bit as long as you are focusing on data backing up
i guess we need some expert's advise.

i think you can goto run then type in dxdiag and under operating system if you have 64 bit it will say if you have 32 it will say nothing buy you have to have a 64 put processor to run 64 bit and i dont think that processor can.
