  • alternative to weight watchers?

I've been using weight watchers to keep my weight in check. In general, it really helps me to write down what I eat. But the problem is, they changed their point system to let you eat as much fruit and vegetables as you like. Fruit has a lot of calories, and I'm,no longer able to keep my weight using weight watchers system. So weight watchers is no longer doing its job. Any alternatives that allow you chose what you eat but help you to limit calorie intake?

  • Why grades 6-12 are usually mentioned separatey?

What do you learn in 6-12 grades? What do you learn before grade 6?

I din't fall from the sky LOL but I didn't go to school in the US. I studied under a different system and I'm curious to learn about US education. For me, it was broken down as 1-3, 4-8 and 9-10. In grades 1-3 we learned to read and write and do basic math. In 4-8 history and science was introduced, math and writing was further developed. 9-10 was college prep. What do people learn in grades 6-12?

    Thank you.

  • MS Word: how do I "attach" a graph to the page?

If I insert a graph into my text, it seems to be attached to the text rather than to a position on the page. Then if I add some text or delete some text this graph ends up shifting in a weird way resulting in blank spaces left behind. How do I fix that?

    I'm currently using Office 2003.

  • Question on Table of Authorities in MS Word?

What I would like to achieve is a text looking sort of like this:

'It's been demonstrated that different types of water have a profound effect on a human being [1], [2]. My studies include experiments ... blah blah."

At the very end of my (very long) document I would like to list the sources in the following form:

    [1] J. Doe "Miracle of Water", 1997

[2] C. Smith "Benefits of proper hydration, 1985

    How to I do that?

Now, if I were to add another source which supposed to fit in between these two sources according to alphabetic order, say a book written by S. Johnson, the numbering will have to change. How do I make them change automatically, so that I don't have to go through entire text and change tem by hand?

  • What constitutes "candies and flowers" for a guy?

Here is what I mean: when we at the start of the relationship, a woman expects "candies and flowers". What does the guy expect? What is the man's "candies and flowers"? Cause if he wants it, I'll gibe it to him, only if I knew what it means.

So, what are the men's "candies and flowers"? Any other advise?

When he came back to me after years of separation, I sort of expected candies and flowers. He didn't know it. I pushed him away. Cause he didn't give candies and flowers. He wanted everything at once. I want to be with him more than anything. Only if I knew what it is.

I realize it's marriage and divorce section. We've been in back-and froth relationship for many years. We are both over 30, and I am very serious. I know he is serious, but scared by all the experiences. I think he is into "give me the candies and flowers" mode right now, and I'm determined to do what it takes to make him happy.

  • Is this a hard drive failure (PC desktop)?

My old computer was freezing up, then it was spontaneously going into CMOS screen every 2 hours or so. After trying to replace various parts like memory and battery on the mother board I pulled out the hard drive and plugged it into a known working machine. Now it goes into this screen where it shows a table of all the details like what kind of memory it has, what kind of processor, what kind of hard drive, ports and so on.

At the very end of the screen, it says: "Searching for boot record from IDE-0..OK" and it doesn't proceed any further.

How can I convince it to go to Windows screen?

It's supposed to have Windows XP on it.

    It's a Maxtor N256 30 GB hard drive, probably 2004

  • How to I put in low-lights in my hair?

I have platinum blonde (bleached) hair but I'm gettign tired of it. I know how to do highlights - it's trivial, you pull the strands through the plastic hat and you bleach them. But I want the whole lower part of my hair to be darker, and some strands on the top, too, to be darker. How to I part them for coloring?

Please don't tell me to go to a professional, I could come up with that idea on my own. I've done all my hair coloring in the past by myself, including going from cherry-red to platinum blond.

    Thanks.

  • How do I transfer all the information from one hard drive to another? (PC desktop)?

I have a computer that seems to be dying. It's pretty old, so it's to be expected. It keeps taking itself to CMOS screen every 2 hours for no apparent reason. I changed

    - power supply (cause it would just randomly shut itself off completely)

    -memory

    -battery on the mother board

-mother board to a similar one, but used the same CPU which is AMD Duron 700 MHz

I'm starting to think it's the hard drive, or I don't know what that is, but it seems like the whole thing is dying.

I want to preserve all the programs on the hard drive cause it's a data acquizition machine with a whole bunch of programs which take a real juggling act to install and manage. Is there any way to do it? Can I unplug the DVD rom and plug in a new hard drive and just tell it to copy?

I already tried to buy a normal external hard drive Maxtor 4mini (which I totally hate by now). This machine refuses to communicate with it. While I got the other similar machine to communicate with it fine.

    Please help.

  • How do I find out which type of PC system do I have?

I'm running Windows XP on a desktop. It's pretty old.

I'm trying to install an external hard drive to back it up which only supports 32 bit. I tried installing it, but computer doesn't recognise it. I need to know if my computer is 32 bit. It has AMD Duron processor 701 MHz, EP-8KTA mother board. How do I find out? Control Panel->System properties doesn't show this information.

Seems like it's a new idea of Supadance. Have anyone tried it? Does it feel different from flare heel? Would you recommend it to those who usually prefer slim heel?

  • Recommend a good color to combine with green for a Latin Ballroom costume?

I'm making a new latin dress to compete in Adult Pre-Champ. It will be lime-green or neon-green, as bright as a highlighter pen. I want to add details of a different color to make it look a little tamer. I'm experimenting with black lace, but I don't quite like it. Dark blue looks good, but too many people use this combination and they are both very bright colors, so I don't quile like it either. Ideas, please?

  • "a" and "the" usage question?

It says "Congratulations, You've got a best answer and 10 extra points!"

I thought that when you use words like "bets", "worst", "tallest" and so on you're supposed to use "the" in front of it. Could you explain why "a" is used?

(I'm not a native speaker of English, just trying to learn)

  • Ballroom: what is the correspondence between USA and European proficiency levels?

For those of you who have competed in both USA and Europe, or who is familiar with the system -

what does class "S" correspond to?

What do other letters correspond to, approximately? Or, to put it differently, how many years of training does it typically take?

Or, to put it differently, what does Amateur Pre-Champ correspond to? It's for the purpose of partner search, so it doesn't have to be exact.

  • Batteries: what's the difference?

I have Eveready batteries for electronic application, they come in different voltages like 15, 22.5 ets. What is the difference from regular 9 V duracell batteries, besides the voltage?

I need an 18 V DC source for 3mA current that would last for a long time. I know I could always experiment. I'm asking cause it's critical in my case that it won't die - a lot of stuff stops working and irreversible changes happen.

Can I assume that a larger (in physical size) battery will last longer?
