    I think there are two types of oboes(could be mistaken): the French which is most common in orchestras, and the German.

    An interesting one which is unique to Germany, in that it was I think first conceived, produced and implemented by Richard Wagner for utilization in his great "Ring" cycle, is the "Tuben": the "Wagner" tuba.

    As for pianos, I'll only state that I think the "Steinway"- which in my opinion, is still far and away the best - originated in Austria=Germany.
