What was your reaction to the Sean Bell verdict?
Mine was astonishment and suprise. I couldnt even be mad because of all the horrible news lately.
But on the surface it seems hard to believe that these men can truly be exonerated on all wrong doing for what they've done.
1. I know police officers face life and death situations all the the time. My father is one also
2. I know they may not have intended to kill anybody when that night began.
3. I know that there were 2 black cops and this may not have been a case of racism.
BUT. Killing a man with no weapon, shooting at a moving vehicle and going against regulations, approaching a man's car with a gun in a bad neighborhood in plain clothes, firing 50 shots into a car, all seem to deserve more then suspension with pay. Dont you think?

Well, if yours is astonishment and surprise, you do not know much about the case.
The van was the WEAPON - Bells friends had stated out loud that they were going outside to get a "gun"; all the officers had their shields around their necks.
The witnesses that were brought in for the prosecution were the actual friends of Sean Bell, along with other witnesses for the prosecution all of their stories differed. Sean Bells friends were dismissed as non-credible considering their credibility was impeached due to their extensive criminal records. The van was used to run over one of the detectives, the court showed that Bell was told to stop numerous times.
If your father is a police officer I believe you can ask him about department procedures, In the NYPD, since the N. Hollywood shootout in CA. we fire until the threat is totally neutralized, totally. Also, imagine that was your father trying to stop a vehicle that is being driven at him to kill him, would you want your father to come out alive, or would you be happy with an inspector’s funeral and a flag because the ills of society felt he shouldn't protect himself?
This department procedure was brought in during the trial as well - the number of shots may shock a society, but if it takes 1 or one-hundred and one that's what we will use.
The officers now face a departmental trial at One Police Plaza, and this will determine if they stayed within department guidelines - with the insight that I have they did, will the department make a scapegoat out of them? Probably.
But don't worry, because anything that Al Sharpton sides with has got to be legit, right? (I don't think so).
EDIT: CARNEY - Don't confuse this with the OJ case. These officers were found NOT GUILTY - They admitted to shooting this low-life criminal that would cut your throat on the street for a $1.
JERMAINE - Another one who knows nothing, there is NO department in the world that trains their officers to take one shot - NONE. Don't try to manipulate the truth so it conforms to your own will of thinking.
Your hearts can go out to the victims families - but do your hearts go out to the families of the people that Bell victimized in the past? Hypocrites!

I wish Mr Bell was still here to stand trial, but he isn't. Regarding brutality, the police were aquitted. That a judge feels pompas enough at add a savage remark during sentencing only confirms my personal belief that people of power seem to think their mouth is as important as their their intrepretation of the law. What exactly are you looking for anyway?

If I remember right, wasn't the car moving because Bell was trying to run the cops over? Didn't one of the "victims" shout something about getting a gun? Anyone ever fire an automatic weapon? On person can get 50 shots out within a few seconds, so three guys doing it isn't unreasonable, especially if you are fearful of getting run over.

i real can understand the law these days a cop kill a unarm man got with a fatality 50 shots when they train to shoot once and here a normal person can go to jail for life just for committing a bull shh crime such as sell drugs. I don't know if safe here in America anymore but i hope his family appeal this case and get what they deserve witch is justice.

I think this is a good lesson for everybody on why you listen to the cop, don't make sudden moves, don't run your mouth about having a gun, or try to run people over with your car.
Nobody should feel sorry for Sean Bell or his friends. They brought it on themselves.

I cant believe people are actually saying he got what he deserved!!!
I hate people and the so called JUSTICE system.

This is not even about race to me. Its about a PERSON i repeat a PERSON un-armed that was killed for no reason.

My reaction was to never go to another strip club without at least two of my white friends with me and to make sure they bring their Amish horse and buggy because my car may be considered a weapon and I might get shot 51 times.

they were not found innocent, they were found not guilty. There is a difference. We as a society shouldn't confuse our legal system with justice. Rarely does it truly bring justice. What I think doesn't matter.

I was surprised and a bit angry because it seemed excessive and these cops, just ugh.... But what's done is done and my prayers go to the victims' family.
