Desperate Housewives is one of those genre-busing programs. It's a primetime Dramedy Soap Opera, but also has an element of mystery.

Well when awards shows come around it is in the comedy category. But it can be considered a prime time soap opera. It is similar to soaps.

it's more of a nite time soap, I like it because it carry's thru with the story lines each week. It's only on 1 nite a week where as daytime soaps are on 5 days a week.

    It's a Prime time Soap. It's a continuing story - ergo - a soap.

I would say it's more of a sitcom than a soap, because even though it has a lot of drama, it has a lot more comedy than soap operas.

It is in the same catagory as Beverly Hills 90210, however, it is absolutely a billion times better.

I think it is in a way. I guess the downside is that it only comes on once a week.
